Overview

Cequens offers SMPP (Short Message Peer-to-Peer Protocol) connections to clients who require direct, high-throughput messaging—ideal for aggregators, enterprises, or applications with large-scale transactional or promotional traffic needs.

What is an SMPP Connection?

SMPP is an industry-standard protocol used to send and receive SMS messages between External Short Messaging Entities (ESMEs) and Short Message Service Centers (SMSCs). It allows for:

  • High-speed message delivery

  • Binary message support (e.g. emojis, flash SMS, etc.)

  • Real-time delivery acknowledgments (DLRs)

Who Can Request an SMPP Connection?

  • Clients with an active Cequens account

  • Approved use cases (e.g. bulk marketing, 2FA, OTP delivery)

  • Regulatory-compliant message routing and sender ID setup

How to Get Your SMPP Credentials

  1. Request Access:
Reach out to your Account Manager or the Cequens Customer Success team to request an SMPP test or live connection.

  2. Account Verification & Approval:
